#HikingMakesMe – Jennifer Pharr Davis
American Hiking Society Ambassador, Jennifer Pharr Davis, responds to our #HikingMakesMe interview.
My name is Jennifer Pharr Davis, but my friends call me Jen, because it is way more concise. Or they might call me Odyssa, since that is my trail name.
When I go on a hike, I never leave home without my FITS socks, extra food and my sawyer mini water filter.
My favorite book is, most recently, Untamed by Will Harlan.
In addition to hiking, I love spending time reading and writing.
I would love to trade places with my husband because it would be so much easier to see eye to eye.
Lip smacking and depressing books frustrate me, more than anything in the whole world.
People don’t know this about me, but I know how to knit and once I entered a beauty pageant.
I’m most proud of my marriage. It’s hard work, but also really fun and rewarding.
If I could have a superpower it would be time travel because I love history and I would enjoy experiencing the world during other periods.
My favorite meal after a strenuous hike is probably a good burrito and a craft beer.
Of all the things still to do on my bucket list, I’m most excited about completing a section hike of the Continental Divide Trail.
My best piece of trail advice is to be totally stubborn and completely flexible all the time. 😉
